  • Freshly cleaned and re-organized office!

    Finally got the office organized - it was about time. It only took about 18 months for me to weed out the cable mess and give it a good "Spring Cleaning". All that remains is to hide the cables on the left side. I already ordered the cable channels.

  • ATP: Dumbed Down, Locked Down

    I have the same thought for the last couple of years, but I was never able to articulate it in a short and poignant way. In my opinion, Marco Arment's comment is exactly on-point. The shift to mobile and mobile design dumbs down interfaces and removes "power users" from the equation. Especially on the Mac!

  • Uber ist nicht das Problem

    Der Taxistreit erinnert mich an viele alte Bekannte: Verleger vs. Google. Autobauer vs. Tesla. Einzelhandel vs. Amazon. Die Player wechseln, das Thema bleibt. Ganze Branchen werden von der nicht mehr ganz so neuen New Economy herausgefordert. Statt sich zu öffnen, ziehen die Taxibetreiber ihre Schützengräben tiefer und schaufeln damit ihr eigenes Grab.     So wie Journalisten heute mehr leisten müssen, als das reine Überbringen einer Nachricht (Googlen können unsere Leser auch), kann jedes Kind heutzutage ein Navi bedienen. Spätestens wenn unsere Autos selbständig fahren, ist nicht länger der Transport von A nach B, sondern der Service das Produkt.

    Ich finde, Richard Gutjahr trifft hier den Nagel auf den Kopf!
